Wanted
"What does ev'ry body waaaant?"
It's the Wanted Section! Here you'll find a batch of great ideas for CastleVania sent in by CV freaks across the CastleVania WorldWide! Since you guys come first here, your ideas...come first! Mine follow. News for June 15, 2001: Since many of these ideas are old, I will apply year anchors to each respective portion and revise my commentaries at later date. What would you like to
see in a CastleVania game? ALSO: If one of your unaccredited ideas is here, notify me, give me your name and such, BANG. Credit, you've got. Ideas are unaccredited because I never thought of doing that in the old '97 days for the Wanted section. >_<; {My commentary will appear this way.} |
1997 1. To see a swordsman vampire slayer. {Looks like this prayer's answered, as Alucard fights with a sword} 10. A CastleVania meant to run on the PC as it's base platform. OR {I think there was a CastleVania 1 PC version, but it bit} {Yeah, really! We never got to choose, did we?} 12. It'd be cool to play as a Belmont in a CastleVania: SotN sequel with whips and stuff. But the Belmont would be in 1997 so instead of waters, knifes, and crap as secondary weapons you could have guns, swords, and shields and stuff. I think it also be awesome to be Slogra and/or Gaibon, Death, Dracula, Lisa, and the awesome boss Scylla! 1998---2000 13. Jason Garrett sez... You were asking what we wanted in a CastleVania game, but I was thinking, how about a CastleVania Anime? A good one, mind you, not some piece of crap (see Art of Fighting). The closest thing we have to one is Vampire Hunter D, which has the style I figure a CastleVania movie would have. Heck, they could do an entire series, just start with Simon's first adventure and keep on going. It'd make more money for Konami, as would an Anthology CD (hoping, praying). 14. LeRoy Strangman. As far as a Dracula 2100 is concerned, my friend Art and I have been writing a Castlevania novel for the past year and a half that takes place in 2197. We have a lot of gadgets - but unfortunately, a lot of technology doesn't work on the supernatural. One of them is the D-117B pulse rifle: a pulse rifle that shoots concentrated bursts of silver particles (the 22nd century equivalent of the silver bullet). You can check out the first part of the prologue on the Castlevania Dungeon's Fan Fiction page. Just look for the Castlevania Legacy Prologue by Rob Strangman. We have spoken with Konami about getting our book published - hopefully we'll be done soon and we can get it published. {Expect the retail $$ from me, man!} 15. S Flopssy. It would be cool if you got to be Drac and have to fight villagers, animals, vampire hunters, your son, your old bosses( Like Slogra), and the Belmonts. You would start from the beginning of his life. 16. Course, many of you fans have suggested playing as an enemy character would be a good idea (Slogra is one I keep hearing about, Dracula, etc.). 17. Sheila Novak. How about an axe that had a chain on the end and could be used as primary weapon? { This is sounding very good. When you hit, you cut 'em up!} 18. Chris Rasa. They could make a strategy game along the lines of Command & Conquer or Civilization. Keep it in realtime and have tons o' structures like C&C, and have it span hundreds of years like Civilization. This way, when the game begins, you choose if you want to be the good side or the bad side. The good side starts you with Sonia and disgruntled villagers, and the bad starts you with Vlad Tepes before he becomes a vampire. Because the CastleVania series already spans over so much time, they could have the various other cast members/weapons/buildings/items be born/invented as the game progresses. It would play like C&C, but between missions you are able to customize every aspect of your fighters, weapons, or buildings, then choose what section of Transylvania you want to take over next (and later in the game the rest of the world). The main characters can have an affect on the overall game too. For example, if you put Dracula himself with a certain group of skeletons, that group will perform better. The same would go for the Belmonts. The evil side would have individually weaker characters and buildings, but thousands and thousands of them, whereas the good side would be fewer in number but have tougher, more specialized/customizable fighters. 19. Andrew says... I say that CastleVania should stay with the same base (weapons, tools, ect..) but you should be able to choose different characters, like in CastleVania 64. Then at night, your character could change to an animal of some sorts, like they WERE going to have in CastleVania 64 (but they trashed that idea). Then that way you could move faster and be stronger after hours, just like the Dracula goons, but there is one problem with that. If you're an animal you couldn't go into towns and heal or buy things, and I think that's why they trashed the idea. Nevertheless, it would still add a sense of fun and POWER to the game. {Nice stipulation. Dumb villagers would try to attack you with their torches and pitchforks if you tried to walk into a store. At least you could wreak havoc. I wouldn't mind tearing though as a spotted hyena or rather, a Fish Man.} 20. MJaram2513 says... I think that the Red Falcon team from Contra 3:The Alien Wars can take on the Vampire Hunters before they take the vampire killing job and taking on Elizabeth Bartley with guns!! It will be called: Castlevania Contra. {HA HAAA! Sounds like fun! It would make the game insanely easy, yet interesting. I'd like to see this in action. Can anyone whip up a Demo any time soon?} 21. Squall925 says... I have two ideas for the Castlevania series here's the first one: There should be an RPG Castlevania game. But you start off as Simon and you travel the world and you find all the other Belmonts. Here's how this would work; they're all reanimated (brought back to life) by a Good priest, because Drac is back. The reason there is no new Belmont is because Richter's son joins Drac, and kills Richter. Drac knows he'll be defeated if he stays in Transylvania so he moves all over the world. You get everyone who was ever in a Castlevania game, like Grant, Eric, Alucard, Sypha etc. 22. My second idea. In this game you can pick any character form any other Castlevania game (not only Belmonts) or you design your own. You also get to pick what game you want to play like Richter in Haunted Castle or Sypha in SotN. It's not new but its still cool I think. 23. MJaram2513 is back. I think there should be a Castlevania game when Blossom and her sisters are the bad guys, and Mike Belmont (a made-up Belmont) is the hero in Castlevania 9: Curse of The Powerpuff Girls. Mike travels to Pokey Oaks (home of the PPG and where Castlevania was) to free all the boys who were held captive by Buttercup (one of Blossom's sisters). Then, he kills skeletons, zombies, super zombies, bees, and others which Blossom created. He uses guns instead of whips, grenades instead of boomerangs, and holy water. Bubbles is the 2nd boss to beat. If you look at her in the eye, use holy water to make her cry and get out of her way before she calls Buttercup on you! That leaves Blossom as the final boss! Look out, she uses her powers on you! Shoot her 20 times, sting her with holy water, then throw a grenade and she's dead! That's my idea for a Castlevania game! =) {For the uninformed, The Powerpuff Girls, originally a Cartoon Network World Premiere Toon, was about a trio of kindergartners who fight evil. After a few newer shorts were released, they were given their own series. The 'World Premiere' tag had also frazzled out by that time.} 24. From Disco Ron... There should be a side-step in the Castlevania story where you are a cousin of one of the Belmonts fighting a different incarnation of evil. 25. From Tripp Turnage... A lot of the Castlevania games hint that other people (villagers), have tried many times to enter Drac's castle, but none have ever succeeded (possible evidence: the dead villagers in many areas of Castlevania 64). But what if a villager DID have the skill to fight his or her way into the castle, and went up against Drac him/herself? Or even cooler, what if such a warrior was trapped inside Dracula's castle when it fell (after a Belmont defeat), and because the castle doesn't really follow normal space/time rules, the next time the castle rises he/she's still alive inside it, having had to survive all that time? I can just see a character, an emotional wreck, with clothes crudely fashioned from werewolf pelts and armed with a timeworn weapon (along with anything else he/she could find in the castle). 26. From Obi1 b o b... If you want to put a character in a CV game, why not Ryu Hyabusa from Ninja Gaiden? The two of these great series are very similar (like in a Lincoln-Kennedy type way). Icons hidden in candles, a life gauge with 00000000000000000{life units}, special weapons, temples that fall apart at the end, bad guys that die terrible, terrible deaths, and so on. Castlevania needs to have a faster game pace to match up with NG. It would be a badass combo. 27. From Steve Howe…I want to see a 3D free-roaming [no stages] Castlevania with RPG-like levels. The story can begin with Alucard going mad with bloodlust. Maria will not be around forever, she's only mortal. That's how Alucard will come too see humanity, as merely mortal. Believing his father was right about humans, Alucard seeks to resurect his estranged father. Possible characters include Alucard's and Maria's son/daughter, a new Belmont, and maybe a secret character from another Konami game [like solid snake]. I also like the idea of a cowboy character like in Bram Stokers Dracula. It would also be nice to see more character development and some easter eggs to increase replayability. 28. From Jeffrey Lefebvre…There should be a 2nd castlevania game with sonia and when you press the pause button you see her in a swimsuit with a whip! {Um… "Okaaay! I'm relooooaded!"} 29. From CIockwrkx…Remember that guy Dr. Crossack or whatever his name is, from Megaman 4? Well what if like in the future of castlevania some whacked out scientist who was really into the legend made his own evil baddies from castlevania, like a techno Grim Reaper made of steel, a robotic Medusa, or even go into the myths of the legend and pull a Shaft and bring Dracula back into the world of life, only for Dracula to kill his "life bringer" and then use the modern world as his new home, harnessing all it's power for Drac's ultimate return in the future. Kinda like a "side story" Call it "Castlevania 2001, The resurrection of an old curse " Lol I don't know. {Dr. Cossack, that dude was called. Okay, so here we have another one for the "Dracula '97" list!} 2001 30! From Dalamar000...I don't know about the general consesus over this one, but I am simply nuts over Castlevania IV. Some may say it was easy, or have other gripes... but again, I was enthralled with the music style, the graphics, the variety of options that Simon had with his whip, etc. As such, why doesn't Konami update this game to present standards? I mean, the ideas for the levels, in my opinion, were fantastic, and combined with modern graphics standards (see Symphony of the Night on the PSX) and the capability to hold A LOT more data (read: LOTS more levels/ characters/ options/ easter eggs) it could be a quite a rush. However, I am am NOT an advocate of updating the earlier 3. You just can't mess with a classic. 31. From Calogero...i know you probably get this alot but a castlevania rpg would be awsome. you could start out as a belmont that secluded themselves from the rest of the world when u get the feeling that Dracula is back. soon after, a townsperson from transylvania will arive at your door, mortaly wounded with a note that you are needed once again to defeat Dracula. it would start from there as u would journey the town then to the various parts of the castle. also, a good old side scrolling castlevania would be cool, but this time, u would create ur own belmont from his clothes to his name to his eyes. then you guide himn through the castle using the engine from Metal Gear solid. (and if it isnt to much for konami an anthology would be nice) {Added 3-6-2001} 32. From Cal...Make a New Castlevania With Characters Decended from Characters in the series... think of it... A Belmont, a Belnadez (Fernandez to the newer generation), a DaNasty, a Vlad Tepes (though Alucard could just come back), an Oldrey (Play Castlevania Legecy), and Whatever last name that Werewolf character had... It would be great... Also, a Resident Evil/CV crossover would be sweet... Umbrella corp ressurects Dracula, but are destroyed and Drac makes all the Zombies rise up and try to kill Jill Valentine, Sypha Belnadez, Chris Redfield, Claire redfield, Trevor Belmont, Leon Kennady, Maria Renard, Ada Wong, And any other RE/CV hero that happens along... Guns, Whips, Knives (Knives suck in both games), and axes would make for a great game! {Added 3-6-2001} 33. From WRobinGoodfellow...time travel, think about it Dracula keps popping up every 100 years or so. Have a Belmont travel after him. Another good idea would be to have Dracula conqour the world! think of the variety of levels you could have then {Added 3-12-2001} 34.-->41. from Wereryu64! 1) A "Encyclopidia" Type game (Hey, It could happen!). Kinda' like what they incuded in the Tenchi Muyo! Box set, that tells about each character, local, ect. {Interesting.} 35. A Castlevania Game that has you being able to play as ANOTHER werewolf....or 3! Mabey a good one (Cornell) an Evil one, and an ordinary (I.E. Netrual) One! 36. 1 word...Kola. {She's some red-leather clad lady from the early planning of NUCV.} 37. A Game that marks the return of Annette Renard Belmont! {Yeah, really. What DID happen to her after Rondo???} 38. A Game that marks the return of the Castlevania 3 cast, and adds to it, telling about ancestors of Cornell, Henry Oldry, Maria Renard, & Eric Lercade. 39. A "Kid Trevor" or "KId Richter" Game. (I Know, I Stink sometimes with ideas) 40! Like you guys said, EVERY Character.....but Include Kola, Cornell, Henry, that guy who was going to be in Ressurection, and....Kid Dracula! 41. Last, and not Least one little bit, A Castlevania Game in the vein of Final Fight (After All, Sailor Moon's original game had Sailor Venus play similar to a Belmont! With A Whip!) {All added 3-13-2001} 42. From Kevin! I think their should be a game about Slogra! Slogra, the man with the plan! (Yes, cliche', go ahead and yell at me for that) And not just some game about ol' Slogra fighting Dracula, no, a game about Slogra taking out Alucard! It could even have a storyline! Alucard kills Gaibon, life time friend of Slogra, and Slogra ain't gonna take no jibba jabba from no crazy foos like dat(Please excuse my grammar, went into "Mr. T" mode for a second)! So he sets on a journey to kill Alucard, fighting nonsensical villagers, and,, umm,, some poisonous frogs in the inevitable marsh level! Oh, and did I mention that Slogra is the man! {Added 6-2-2001. Shoot. Now why couldn't I have thought of that?! I can see it now! THE MAN using a variety of spears and attacks, and hey! An aging Eric Lecarde can be an area guard! TAKE THAT, you biter! How about a Berserker mode for Slogra? Maybe he coult turn into a mad, ravenous dinosaurian creature to tear tail. Alternatively, I saw a "Kid Slogra" type of game in my mind as I was reading this earlier.} 43. From Kasey. i know alot of people think the 2 N64 CV titles were the worst thing to ever happen in the CV universe, but i think they rocked.and i dont care what anyone else says.but anyway,i think they should re-release the first 3 CV games in the same 3D format on the N64.I would really like to see simon and trevor rendered in 3D, and draculas 3 forms from draculas curse in 3D. {Added 6-19-2001. Careful, dude. A few people may disagree with you on this one...} 44.From The Imperial's finest, Mewtwo.
here's my idea, in the year 2010 a decendent of the belmont clan ( I'll
call him Eric Belmont for now ) has become a scientist who is cnducting
an experiment when his partner injects him with ancient dragon DNA which
turns Eric into a dragon ( he still walks on two legs ) his former partner
tells him that he will resurrect Dracula and rule the world. the former
partner leaves Eric locked in a cage and goes to resurrect Dracula. Eric
breaks free of the cage. just then a rip in the fabric of time opens and
all of the Belmonts of the past are brought through the rip. simon and
the others are about to attack Eric but he explains to them that he is
their decendent and that Dracula is about to be resurrected by his former
partner if they don't stop him, but, Dracula's castle appears out of nowhere
and the undead start roaming the earth once again. 45+46. From PatmanX86... I think that they should make a Castlevania Movie! I know the movie buisness hasn't had much luck converting video games, but I think this one would work! 46. heres my second one, maybe they should make a castlevania game were Dracula teams up with Diablo and his brothers! if they were bosses the game would rock! 47. From Jazz...Maybe
you could be one of the panthermen in mista Dracula's castle, and then....
you can go and fight mista Dracula, or fight the current Belmont person.
:D 2002 48.-->50. The Mnementh
says..., Ok, here's my ideas. 1, and maybe they're already working on
it (?)... Take EVERY CV game (maybe not CV64) and put them into one or
two cds, preferably with *slightly* improved graphics (IMHO CV3 Alucard
was poorly done 49. Castlevania meets Bushido Blade! Characters
from rival clans 50. I want to see something different out of CV. Samurai Shodown has an RPG. Mortal Kombat has an action/platform game. Street Fighter has a Tetris clone. Mario has more spinoffs than any human would care to count. CV has started stepping into the Platform/RPG category, but I'm talking something significantly different, I don't know what. Maybe a fighting game or an actual RPG. 51, 52 from J.C.... It would be a challenge to try and escape Dracula's Castle with demons blocking your way after you defeat Drac himself. Rocks falling over your head, pillers crushing in the background, skeleton's trying to keep you in the castle, Support beams crush the stairs as you go down, ect. I think It would be a great challenge. If only there was a back way out... (yes I meant that as in, 'Secret Exit') If Konami would have done this in CastleVania 4, the people who thought it was easy would feel differently. I still think it's a great game. 52. You all know how the Grim Reaper is the taker of souls right? Anyway. If the Grim Reaper wins a battle against the current belmont (I.E. Simon Belmont. After all, he does appear in most CV games), He takes their soul and you, the player, get to see it happen. 53. Kourtney Lyte's cartoon concepts... Well,I haven't played them in a very long time, but I would make a Castlevania cartoon series if I could. Starting with Simon Belmont. You're right,I am not missing much. The only castlevania games I can find are in 2-D which isn't a big deal. My favorite characters are: Sonia Belmont from Castlevania Legends,Trevor C.Belmont from Castlevania 3:Dracula's Curse, and Richter Belmont from Castlevania:Dracula X. 54. J.C.'s plot twist!... Think about this for a moment... You make it up to Dracula's chamber, and he busts the floor open because he's "Tired of those blasted Belmonts!!" and such. He really doesn't want to go to sleep again. So he thinks... "Give them a large fall, and watch their bones get crushed", which is an obviously impossible thing to happen. You end up in the spots of the castle you've never seen. And now you have to take the side quest of getting back up to Dracula, facing new monsters and such (Most likely a bunch of Slogra clones...). When you return to Dracula's chamber, he tells you that you're "worth" the fighting effort. But it's a lousy excuse because he ran out of ideas. So you fight him for awhile. He brings in a few good and tough monsters for you to face, and you have to fight Dracula himself. Although it's insane, with item crash, and enough hearts (save em up), you can win. You would try to focus on Dracula himself, but you have him and some monsters and demons to take care of, thus making the game a bit more tough. But if you beat the game in a certain amount of time, you'll get a different ending, adding to the replay value. {Y'know, that sort of reminds me of Streets of Rage, when Mr.X asks you to join his gang. If you do, the floor beneath you will open, dropping you back 2 stages. But I'm looking forward to those Slogra beatings! Added 4-2-2002} 55. By the Prisoner... If the Belmonts can have their revenge...why can't the monsters? They'd call it, CastleVania: Monster's Revenge. You could be the man Slogra, Gaibon, Skull Knight, Death, Medusa, Frankenstein, Akmodan II, and some others maybe. Then you'd travel around the world ravaging villages, using those Mystic items and stuff. Then, the Belmonts catch on, and the current Belmont of the generation would have to fight you. The end...or is it? As a plot twist, Dracula fears your power, and seeks to dispose you, his long time follower. So you must go to CastleVania and destory Dracula. Then you, the supreme power, rules over the Castle. Then every CastleVania after that, the last boss wouldn't be Dracula, but a Ultra Powerful Slogra with a slew of Slogra like forms. And THAT would be the best CastleVania ever. {Without question. Everyone's just gotta love the Slogra! >) Added 6-27-2002} |
Thanks your ideas, everyone! Keep 'em coming!
1997 1. This is the illustration of the Japanese
version of the Super NES cart, Super CastleVania 4. Here you see Simon
Belmont clad in blue, and on the right you see him swinging from a chandelier
with 2 grim reapers beneath. One of them is an Axe Grim Reaper, and the
other, Scythe Grim Reaper. The Axe G. R. never appeared in CV4. Odd. Anyway,
that's what I'd like to see in a CastleVania game the Axe Grim Reaper,
and both fighting against a Belmont simultaneously. 1998 7. A CastleVania fighting game. Call it 'Dracula Battle!' Characters would include my man Slogra, the Skull Knight, Alucard, Maria, Trevor, Sypha, Grant, Gaibon, Sword Lord, Count Olrox, Count Dracula, Cave Troll, Richter, 'Devil' Familiar, Chibi Galamoth, Frankenstein's Monster, Akmodan II, Queen Medusa, the Grim Reaper, and others that could fit on a 30x25(approx.) inch screen, but if the Venus Weeds were there, the game would be rated NC 17... 8. Improvements to CastleVania Legends. Give Sonia a longer "Game Boy Standard" whip, make Alucard playable, replace the bosses with more exotic/challenging ones (Gobanz? Show us his beginning!), more enemy variety, disable "Burning Mode", and in its' spot, add a life line for the bosses, add 2 or 3 more levels (in the Castle), put in more items, so the game isn't all hearts, enable "candle refresh" (as in other CV games, where you go upstairs, then come back to get more hearts from the reappearing candles), the ropes need to be thicker, add stairs for a change (on the reverse, they should've added at least one rope climbing area in Symphony), redo the soundtrack, add small cut-scenes (I mean, 10 years have passed, and with GameBoy technology the way it is today, you can't add a lil movie to the game? Come on, even Japan's CVGB games didn't have cut-scenes), make it even more compatible with the coming Game Boy COLOR than it already would be. Ladies and gentlemen, CastleVania Legends Perfect. 9. The return of Elizabeth Bartley, that would be GOOD. 10. CastleVania Collection CD's (C3D's)- On the PC/PlayStation compatible discs, Konami can feature the production sketches/drawings, Vampire Killer Dracula artwork, clipart used in game magazines, and text involving the old scripts used for the "old" games, as well as the new. (Something similar is present in ThunderForce 5, by the way. Production sketches and excellent CG's can be viewed in the game's "DIGITAL VIEWER". To complete the PC part of TF5's compatibility, just load the ThunderForce V disc into your computer, then go its' 'Omake' folder...:| ) Gainax's done this (Collection CD's) with Evangelion, not to say this is a "me too" suggestion, but CastleVania connoisseurs would really get a kick out of this! 2001 11. This is interesting. How about if there were two Castles to run through and you would have to go through a 'traversing stage' to go back and forth. This is like travelling the Simon's Quest mansions, however, the further into the game you get, the nastier your enemies become, with the surprise boss every now and then. 12. So the CV Compilation deal has been acknowledged. Maybe Konami should make CastleVania Chronicles a 4 CD pack, with the 4th containing all the top secret goodies mentioned in my #10. 13. Hunger system. Sure, you can beat Symphony of the Night if you don't get hit by anything and kill everything with half a hit at evel 1992, but wouldn't Symphony have been made slightly more interesting (and even more realistic) if Alucard's strength was affected by how long ago he last ate? Then we'd put those millions of stored ice creams, peanuts and turkeys to use. If he doesn't take a food item after a certain amount of time, his level could diminish. Then he can say "WHAT?!" and have a STARVING state until he either ate something or you go to a save room. Starving to death is not a possibility and neither is starving to life, so it's at that point in which it gets too C++ , 3D Studio Max, Volcano and Soft Image to me. I thought this one up as I ate carrot sticks after skipping lunch. Maybe players actually use those things and I'm the one out of 92 people who've never had to resort to 'Use' food items since I'm THAT good... Added 1-29-2001. 14. Shaft was way ahead of his master when he thought up a plan involving a Belmont fighting another Belmont. How about a CastleVania with a plot in which a Belmont woman is hyptonized and brought to a ceremony for the temporary resurrection of the Count, and during his limited time, he and the entranced lady could, uh, you know... do... do the thing in the ring. Drac goes back to sleep (after doing THAT, I'm sure he would!), and 17 years later, when a scheduled resurrection occurs, the young Belmont would become "prossessed" by the spirits of the castle, and the current Belmont, (insert first name here) Belmont, rises to the challenge. Tons of awesome enemies and locales later, you'd fight the Dracula-bred Belmont who has a share of Drac's dark power! If you sucessfully KILL him, you'll face Drac, his multitudes of awesome forms, and another sequel a few years later. Added 3-12-2001. 15. While we're on the subject of Dracula the Player, how about if Konami, which an rewrite CastleVania history as it wants, fixes it so Dracula has a SECOND son? He could be another "forgotten son" of Dracula whose popularity explodes after being in a very cool PlayStation 4 title. Added 3-12-2001. 2002 16. CastleVania 2.5aLPHa: Grant's Quest! You know what would be a really cool game for The Advance? A CastleVania game focused entirely on the speedy swashbuckler with rapid offense, my good man and yours, Grant DaNasty!!! We could have some character designing by Ayami Kojima, but let's not get too out-there (see also, SotN's Alucard). Let Grant retain his 8-bit spirits within his 32-bit rehash. Oh, and perhaps we can have the rest of the DaNasty friends and family in on the fun! This can take place before CastleVania III and have dual endings. In the worst ending, Dracula kills Grant's family and friends and then turns Grant into Nasty Grant to guard the Clock Tower of Untimely Death. In the good ending, Dracula had been subdued by the DaNasty family, barely escaping only to regain his power for the next chapter, Dracula's Curse. Pretty good lead-in, huh? Added 4-13-2002 |
