Confessions of a CastleVania freak
Check this out! It's an e-mail sent
to me by...um...an anonymous person. I got permission from the original
sender, so it's all good. I am a 23 year old that is totally addicted to the CastleVania series. It started back in the beginning of the decade when I was screwing around on my brother's nes. It was then that I discovered Simon's Quest, and was mesmerized by the graphics, music, and characters. It took me a while to catch on the game but I learned to love Simon and the whole CastleVania story. Maybe it's the writer in me that was amazed by the storyline and the way the towns were drawn and how "dark" and gothic it looked. Eventually I went into the air force and picked up my own nes system, found a used Simon's quest and bought CastleVania III at a toy store. I still cannot get over how awesome the music is to that game. I swear I played that game every free moment I had until I beat it, and the challenge was accompanied by a very sore-but very well worth it-hand. I found the 1st Castlevania last year used, and *had* to buy it. How could I conquer the last 2 and not the original? That was cool, but for NES, I think the 3rd was the best. The only problem is, I cannot beat the 1st one. I am stuck at the grim reaper. I did beat him once but couldn't beat Dracula at the end. I found this hard to believe because I thought it would be a little easier being the 1st in the series. I've temporarily given up trying to beat the 1st CastleVania-at least my cursing at the grim reaper will cease for a while. The topper of them all was buying CastleVania bloodlines for Sega. I was hesitant at first because it didn't involve Simon Belmont himself but soon found myself completely wrong. That is the best CastleVania I have ever played. the graphics and music are incredible. I must have beat that game at least 20x, in both easy and expert mode. I don't know what is so intriguing about the CastleVania story but it definitely has me hooked. Which is why i am writing to you, and to thank you for the web site. I honestly thought when I typed CastleVania in yahoo that nothing would surface. Thanks again-it's a very cool page! It helps to know I'm not the only CastleVania junkie! |
