July 7, 2002:
"...Syfa, the Vampire Killer, has had a bad life. But
ever since she met Trevor, she has begun to become more comfortable with
herself..." --Sypha's ending, CastleVania III Dracula's Curse
Maybe you should spend 2 weeks reading up on the massive amount
of news here...take a couple of paragraphs a day, and e-mail
me in the morning.
Okay, let's begin it as I had intended, when
I began working on this update soon after the last. This
excerpt, from the Links section of The
CastleVania Graveyard, is for the DCTP link...
"dracula's
curse site- very nice castlevania dracula's curse web site. site made
by Eric roman.Well... Eric Roman left his site, he shut it down... But
g'wan visit it."
What???
Just because the 'Last Update' date hadn't changed for an extended period
of months, that should mean that DCTP is over with?! What about all the
additions to the site that were never announced, like Potent
Quotables? What about the DCTP message board, DCTMB,
which is always on and poppin'?
LOOK, if DCTP were to ever 'shut down', I'd make sure people knew why...and
as I had once said, DCTP ain't going nowhere.
Now this was like, in April, and since the May update, the kid had rephrased
the link entry...however, as it currently stands, and as you might've
noticed by trying to hit the presented site's link, The CastleVania
Graveyard site no longer exists, due to the choice of it's author.
Ponder that one.
News time...! Let's
see what's new for this release of DCTP newness...
This site became half a decade old
on May 28th, and my Gr8 friend Sol sent his greets in the form of this
AWESOME dedication, as did Munchy!
I never did get the opportunity to finish my DCTPBDAY-V picture, but you'll
be aware of the reasons why by the time you hit the end of today's lines.
Patch thru Cast and
check out Allies' FLY new backdrop, nicer reformatting, and I am
SO proud to say that I have FINALLY COMPLETED Sypha's bio!
Don't forget to read up on new Grant and Sypha bonuses; and be
sure to take look at the Grant bonus, CastleVania III Dracula's
Curse THE GLITCH!!!
As for the background, I had to do alot of cleanup with regards to the
larger skull pattern so it would look right and tile properly...with all
the extra pixels I added (before using Photoshop's Inner Bevel filter,
that is), the skull tile looks just as nice as Konami's original!
::pulls suspenders and poses proudly::
If the new Allies background isn't a worthy graphic to be ripped off and
posted on some other kid's site without my okay, you don't know what is!
^_^
Well! Yet another Review
posting this year? Why yes! Thanks to my mate from The Downunda side,
we have a brief first-hand account of the 3D IMAX film released around
this time last year, Haunted Castle! Give it a look if you've ever wanted
to see the film, but never could.
For all you fans of the CastleVania baddies...including
myself, read up on a really good idea for CastleVania, submitted by Prisoner.
Just what we enemy advocates all Wanted... >)
FEAR the newest discovered Venus Weed
on display at Xzibits' Venus Weed Extravaganza,
thanks to Tacky the Dog.
Humor
Me has seriously exploded, and I mean EXPLODED, with a floodlike
barrage of new entries...unfortunately, not many are of my own design,
but nevertheless, thanks to you guys, you really help Humor Me
come in strongest this episode. 154 thru 171 add up to MUCH
more than you think if you tally up the multipart comics...so all in all,
you have just over 50 new Humor Mes...there, I even counted for
you. ^_^ Hey, wait a moment...does that mean this is the largest single
Humor Me update ever? Horrifying...
Anyway, I've begun to flesh out some of those Humors prior to the last
update that were undefined...
Humor Me Highlight Me!!!
Scope out the PHAT screensnaps for Konami vs Capcom 2, watch what Alucard
sees when he gets BAKED AGAIN (stoned out [high]), and amongst
a splendid plethora of other pickies, check out the premiere of CastleVania:
Harmony of Dissonance laughs months before the stateside release,
grace to Lecacy Boy! Don't forget about the new comic in Ying Girl's
section!
In the mix of Miscmix...
Always a section I'm proud of, Omoshiroi! Everything from Sailor
Venus trivia thru Hellsing, and back again! A huge chunk of
meat to digest this time around, I'm sure, and I've been sure to paint
on a good band of my good 'ol BBQ sauce on that yummy slab...
I've gone back into my '90s journals and typed up some interesting new/old
Potent Quotables for the mind.
The link to the melee report finally works now...apparently, I
had never uploaded the HTML file when I was uploading for the last update...I
was told of this mistake and the file was uploaded at some point last
week.
Peruse the Epitaph
of my site Advisor, Andy Costello, if you haven't already done so.
RADICAL. The freshest, newest Award
comes from the Organization
for the Preservation of Classic Forms of Gaming! It's about time!
^_^ Years ago, like, around '98, I learned of the existance of a certain
anime through THAT site. Hmm, while I'm at it, I may as well make
a new background for that review...ah, there we go. Bionic Germ. ^_^
CV in the News:
CastleVania NEWS!!! And lots of it!!! "Where do I begin...to tell
this story?!"
The bulk of this stuff was supposed to be explained last update, but it
was omitted because I wanted to get May 1st out as soon as I could.
Earlier this year, a fantastic CastleVania
brewed@home game by Michmede was released by the title of Dracula's
Shadow. It's a very interesting game in that Simon's Quest fans would
get a REAL kick out of; this is a sort of Simon's Quest remake.
One of many neats about it is you can also play as multiple characters;
one of which is Sonia, essentially.
Another thing that caught my appreciating eye was a subtle detail...if
you were to enter a room with windows and passed through the light shining
though them, your character sprite's color would react to the light. You'd
then only see a silhouette. It was nothing that'd give the game Nintendo
Power's Nester award, but this small effect was quite nice to see and
didn't clash with the other enhanced NESness going on.
It was foretold in the year 2001AD that
a 3D Simon's Quest remake would be released, and indeed it was, even though
in beta form. This game is CastleVania:
Accursed Seal X. Dropped at the RSU (The CastleVania Dungeon Forums,
Right-Side-Up version) around February, I got a chance to run this beta,
and it's REALLY good! Our hero Simon never looked better in his 3D form
(did I just say I liked a 3D CV game???), and though this was only a limited
romp, the environment was keen and crystal clear as well.
Come
around February 22nd, Konami announces a sequel to CircleVania.
The title is CastleVania: White Night Concierto (or more precisely,
CastleVania: Concierto of the Midnight Sun), CastleVania: Harmony
of Dissonance, for our release.
For the first time in history, Japan adopted the American CastleVania
term for their side, and they plan to stick to it forevermore.
On June 3rd, Juste 3 days before the 6-6 Japan release, the ROM
drops, and The CastleVania WorldWide gets a chance to play as Juste
Belmondo (I called him 'Juiced' when RSU wasn't sure of how to pronounce
it), descendant of Rarufu Berumondo and Saifa Berunandesu (or, Trev and
Syph) as well as all the guys that were by-products of their honeymoon
after the end of CastleVania III. ^_^
Vic
Rattlehead manages to regurgitate a site for it within the week.
I must say that Concierto, without fail, creams and brutalizes CircleVania
for a myriad of reasons, up to and including the fact that the game is
freaking reference central, the Skull Knight is in it, the presence
of CastleVania III in the game is SEVERE, Slogra and Gaibon make cameos
as wall decor, the game will be visible on a real Advance, the music
sounds JUST like Gameboy music...meaning it sounds incredibly sexy
to my ears, the master fights are crazy, the bonuses are even crazier...I
can just go on and on, my friends...
Not everyone is pleased with the music, however. It was only a cupful
of others, along with myself, who had played The CastleVania Adventure
and Belmont's Revenge and truly appreciated them... The fans were expecting
something of CircleVania caliber and didn't get it...the tradeoff was
necessary; the power driving this game was reserved mainly for the amazing
half-NES, half-Super NES, half-PlayStation-like graphics.
There is no reason not to like Concierto.
Is there...?
In
other CastleVania WorldWide news, I got an e-mail from Scott Helfrich
in March regarding something that was supposedly coming to change CastleVania
Interactive...my reply to his message was probably what made him reconsider,
as I haven't heard from him again. ::shrug:: He didn't even tell me what
this secret project was supposed to be.
Whatever the case, my work on the CVI site will carry on during the summer,
and the forums
are deathless, thanks to my own CVI fam.
I don't know what is going on with The
Forbidden Courtyard...Median's site supposedly got a new URL, but
it doesn't appear that any major changes had been maid...excuse me, I
mean, MADE. I think... that The Forbidden Courtyard has...
Berrigan's Chambers
was never abandoned...matter of fact, there are some interesting new goodies
there for your perusal. Gotta love that Sloggy Says section, in
which THE MAN solves the mysteries of your life!
Check out Raven Reaper's CastleVania
Attic, which has been progressing extremely well ever since I gave
it a little boost earlier this year.
Lookin' for some MIDI? I like MIDI...^_^ Scope out JILost's new location
for a great collection of Videogame MIDI, including some arranged CastleVania
goodness; the Purple
Guppy Videogame MIDI Repository!
The Verboten X Network
appears to be doing what Planet CastleVania and Eternal
CastleVania had attempted, the former nearly a year ago, but since
it's still coming up (and has the apparent sting of contemporary non-CastleVania
site design), it's still too soon to determine how much of an impact or
influence the VerbXNet project will have in the scheme of the CVWW. One
thing's for sure...Verboten has a history of being fiercely dedicated
to the things he carries out, and that, to me, is quite venerable...
True, indeed! CastleVania:
Rough Sex in the Moonlight has some news for you!
Don't doubt that the resurrected Castle
Bathroom is still operational, either.
As
cited at the bottom of Humor Me, CastleVania Humor has a new address.
CasTleManIa.
That gracefully leads me into...
Get Inverted, Inverted
CastleVania Dungeon-style, that is! Good luck surviving the forums;
without question they're the absolute, rancid crotch of The CastleVania
Worldwide. >) A hint of advice; DON'T cross the one called Snapple.
He will ROXOR YOUR BOXORS before he haxors you and maxors your life an
Inverted Hellzor. If you do manage to Make Your Time, however,
you'll eventually discover how the ICVDungeonites are as close-knit as
CVInteractive...it truly is a family over there.
ParoVadius,
ParoVadius, ParoVadius...
ParoVadius' Last Love Letter, written

I am Engrish Humanity.

Slogaibon 16-Bit, Destructed.

If you make wish from falling star to safeguard future of CV fan, you

[Slogra/gaibon], May your tuna be fat-free.
ParoVadius
began innocently enough...a scrolling CV2 Mountain animated GIF was posted
to RSU one day in April...I suggested how Flash users might find the moving
background useful, and we got to talking about Gradius/Parodius/CastleVania...I
posted this age old picture, of course,
and Anapan unexpectedly came through with a
newer version, at which point I decided to create a short Flash animation
of it flying around in front of the mountainscape. The ParoVania
demo was met with rave comments, as was expected, and I decided to expand
the project.
Side A.
During those two months of ParoVadius' production, I learned 12
times more about Flash than I've ever known...more than enough to topple
that Randy Solem guy, who once doubted my abilities and cast me from his
group of underlings, who will never get better (at Flash) than
he...
The RSU was subjected to countless updates to The ParoVadius Project,
and it brewed itself a strong following. One of the movie's intended goals
had been discovered and acheived a month before ParoVadius was finished;
that moment I realized that I was becoming better than a certain 'Special'
someone...
According to you, The CastleVania WordlWide,
ParoVadius is the greatest thing EVER, and beyond the shadow of
a doubt SLAVES anything ever released by Videogame
Director's Cuts. Yes, indeed it does...how doesn't it?
Foolish attacks against my works and I never
go unchallenged at DCTP, I thought you knew. You don't come in to my
message board, RSDigi, say I'm "a fu **ing p u**y" and that
"no one will ever beat" you in "vg flash", and then
skip off happy-like. If you say something against DCTP that sounds
really cute at the time, be prepared to pay in spades. Flash abilities,
wordplay, any way I will. You can't survive against Dracula's Curse,
bitch.
'-' Oops...I did voluntarily
curse for the first time on the DCTP...
... sorry kids, but this, of all times, was absolutely necessary.
On the B-Side, ParoVadius was also the biggest
gamble I've ever chanced.
ParoVadius was designed to spark a huge controversy, due to the recreation
of a familiar World Trade's Affair event that occurs at its beginning;
Raze even called
it tastefully done. On the eve of June 20th, the completed ParoVadius
was released to the major Flash outlet, where things like this get noticed
and publicized, TV-style. Much to my chagrin and dismay, it had no productive
affect at all on the target masses...
ParoVadius had also been dropped to Texas
Mafia in an effort to give them a push with what could've been "The
Next Base". At TxM's pr0n-laden competition, ParoVadius was received
with high scores and reviews at first, but as the following day carried
on, the rating began to dwindle... Finally sunken out of the Recent 50
Additions list and replaced by wastes of data, ParoVadius' day in the
sun had expired, and its rating continues to behave like the Dow Jones.
Meanwhile, at my camp of the Flash site war, ParoVadius got Cell Block
Pick, alongside an amusing, brutally truthful Flash movie about TxM's
master. I smiled with surprise...now more of the Mafians would see it,
and hopefully respond about how great it was...
Unfortunately, not that many there care for CastleVania and have issues
with Videogame Flash movies, as some reviews reflected...at least they
were more responsive at TxM than the other side...
On the C-Side...
I had rendered Randy impotent and made myself immune to anything in Flash
he'd ever put his Mario-slurping efforts into again, sure, but when it
came to that final, critical goal of the ParoVadius project; infamy, the
press, and potential job offerings, none of those happened; on that front,
ParoVadius was a total failure.
But I destroyed VGDC that night; no matter how you slash it, that's
something that can never be taken away. >:)
If you wish to watch the opening movie to ParoVadius...
I'd rather slurp on Slogra than Mario any
day. >:]
That's a lil' squirt of ICVD coming in through
me for a second...okay, I'll stop... >:]
In
Other News...
Happy ID4.
Sometimes I worry that some of my readers wouldn't understand what I say
in these blurbs...I use too many big words in my words, and I have a tendency
to set my sentences up in a certain way... Maybe I should run a Fog Index
to determine the required reading level for this post. :P Or maybe I'm
just acting like I'm something big and important; that judgement is yours.
Whatever the case may be...ALT Tags RULE.
Oh, and I
got married to Chii, by the way. Thanks to Mandy
and Kaguya-Hime.
If you don't know about the Chobits manga or anime, you really should
look into it. The first volume of the manga has been released in a translated,
intact, unedited(?), read right-to-left format by TokyoPOP.
In conclusion, since this was clearly the
longest update I've ever had to write, I think I'll take my dear little
Chobit and go on a honeymoon...beneath the Midnight Sun.
CastleVania IV LIFE.
